Credit limits and policies
Review suggested credit limits on Quay's Suggestions page
In Quay, open Suggestions, pick a policy for each group of companies sorted by how they pay, check the suggested limits, then click Apply; each group can be undone for 30 days.
Quay is a Shopify app that enforces per-company credit limits and late-payment rules at B2B checkout for wholesale merchants.
Works on: any Shopify plan with B2B · About 3 minutes · Matches Quay as of November 2026
Quay groups your companies by how they have paid you and suggests a policy and a credit limit for each group. Nothing changes until you click a group’s Apply button.
Apply suggestions to a group
- In Quay, open Suggestions. On the Dashboard, the page Quay opens on, Review on the Suggestions ready row and Review suggestions in the setup guide open the same page.
- Each card is one group of companies, such as Pays on time, Pays late, Pays very late or Not enough history yet.
- In Policy, choose the policy for the group. The line under it says what the policy does about unpaid invoices and about going over the limit.
- Keep Set suggested limits ticked to give each company the suggested limit, or untick it to change only the policy. The line under the box says how the limit is worked out. The Not enough history yet group gets no suggested limit.
- Read the box What changes if applied today. It counts the companies that would be blocked, unblocked, move to Pay on order or get a limit.
- To see the companies, click the button with the group’s count, for example Show 12 companies. Untick any company you want to leave out.
- Click the card’s Apply button, for example Apply to 12 companies.
- In the window that opens, check Policy, Credit limits and At checkout today, then click Apply.
From Choose policies on the Dashboard
On the Dashboard, Needs your decision has one row for the late companies with no policy, for example “94 of the 134 companies paying later than usual have no policy.” Click Choose policies on that row to open Suggestions with only those companies, under the line “94 companies paying later than usual have no policy, grouped by how they usually pay.” The cards, the Policy menu and the Apply window work as above, and each card lists just the late companies in its group. What you apply there is an ordinary group, so you can undo it for 30 days too. While Quay applies or undoes a group, the row shows “Choose policies is back once Quay finishes updating your companies.” in place of the button. See all suggestions, at the top right, opens the whole page.
Undo a group
For 30 days after you apply, the group’s card carries a line with Undo…. Click it, then click Undo beside the group in Undo suggested setup. The companies go back to what they had before. Limits and policies you changed by hand since then stay.
On Shopify Plus
When Quay does not yet have Shopify’s permission to take payment at checkout, and the group gets a Pay on order policy, the Apply window has one more box, already ticked: “Take payment at checkout for the order that would go over the limit”. With it ticked, Shopify asks for your permission first. You can change it later in Settings: see Shopify Plus: take payment for over-limit orders.
What happens next
Quay updates the companies one by one. Companies already updated follow their new rules at checkout while your Quay plan covers them; the rest stay as they were until their turn.
