About Quay: net terms without the worry

Our goal

We want every company you sell to on terms to have a credit limit and rules for late payment, and every order checked against them automatically. And we want you to see every unpaid invoice without building a spreadsheet.

Why we built Quay

Since April 2026, Shopify B2B and its net terms work on Basic, Grow and Advanced, not only on Plus (Shopify B2B without Plus). But Shopify has no way to set a credit limit, so nothing checks what a company already owes you before its next order, unless someone reviews every order by hand. And for B2B, Shopify has no accounts receivable report: what each company owes, grouped by how late it is.

Merchants have been asking for credit limits on the Shopify Community. We built Quay to answer them. It has been on the Shopify App Store since July 2026.

What we care about

Complete. Each Quay plan has every feature under What Quay does, for the companies it covers. Quay plans differ only in price, in how many companies they cover, and in support (Pricing).

Simple. You don't have to work out every limit yourself. Quay sorts the companies your Quay plan covers by how they have paid you, and suggests a policy for each group: the rules those companies get. Where it can, it suggests a credit limit for each company too. Nothing changes until you click Apply, and you can undo the change for 30 days (how suggestions work).

Clear. When a company has too little payment history to judge, Quay says so instead of guessing. Each common task has its own step-by-step page in Quay Help.

Fast. Quay imports your past orders and companies from Shopify by itself. The Set up Quay guide on your Dashboard then takes you through the rest, one step at a time (how the guide works). After that, Quay updates what each company owes with every order, payment and refund Shopify reports.

Reliable. If Quay's check at checkout breaks, runs too long or lacks the company's data, the order goes through: we would rather let an order past than stop a buyer because of our bug. One exception: if Shopify gives Quay no usable exchange rate for an order in another currency, Quay compares the order with the company's remaining credit as if both were in one currency, so it can treat the order as over the limit when it is not, or the other way round. The Security page explains how Quay can alert you when an order gets past a block, and what Quay reads and stores.

What Quay does

Quay does not lend money or check your buyers with a credit bureau, and every limit is yours to set. Your staff see Quay's block on a draft order and can override it. Quay doesn't check orders that another system, such as an ERP, adds to Shopify directly. It still counts them in what a company owes when Shopify shows the company on the order. Whether the rules reach POS sales depends on your POS app (where credit rules apply).

With a handful of companies and time to check each order yourself, you may not need Quay: see when native Shopify B2B is enough.
