Credit limits and policies
Set a company's credit limit in Quay
In Quay, open Companies, click the company, type the amount in Credit limit and click Save; the company's policy decides what checkout does once it goes over.
Quay is a Shopify app that enforces per-company credit limits and late-payment rules at B2B checkout for wholesale merchants.

Set the limit for one company
- In Quay, open Companies.
- Find the company. On a long list, type its name in Search companies by name. Click the company’s name to open its page.
- Under Credit settings, type the amount in Credit limit. The amount is in your store’s currency. Enter 0 to put every order over the limit.
- If the company has no policy yet, choose one in Policy, under Enforcement. Without a policy, the limit changes nothing at checkout.
- Click Save in the bar at the top of the page. Quay shows “Credit settings updated”.
Set the same limit for several companies
- In Companies, tick the box beside each company.
- Click Set credit limit.
- Type the amount in Credit limit and click Apply. Every company you ticked gets the same limit.
Remove a limit
On the company’s page, click Remove limit under the Credit limit field, then click Remove limit again to confirm. The company then has no limit: what it owes on payment terms is not capped, and going over a limit never moves it to Pay on order. You can set a limit again at any time.
On Shopify Plus
A Plus store can take payment at checkout for the one order that would take a company over its limit. While that is off, the company page says so for a company on a Pay on order policy that has payment terms, is within its limit and is not overdue (and has no Manual override). Under Enforcement it reads: “Orders go on terms, including the one that takes it over its limit. After that, its orders are paid at checkout until the balance is back under.” Below that, the link Take payment for that order instead in Settings opens Settings.
What happens next
Under Credit usage on the company page, you see the new limit, what the company has used and what it still has available. What checkout does once the company goes over the limit is set by the company's policy.
