Getting started
Set up Quay with the setup guide
In Quay, the Set up Quay guide on the Dashboard imports your orders and companies, reads how each company pays, then walks you through suggestions, the company card and buyer accounts.
Quay is a Shopify app that enforces per-company credit limits and late-payment rules at B2B checkout for wholesale merchants.
Works on: any Shopify plan with B2B · About 5 minutes · Matches Quay as of November 2026
The guide sits at the top of the Dashboard, the page Quay opens on, under the title Set up Quay. It opens on the first step that is not done and shows how many steps are done. A step that is not done has an empty circle, a done step a green check, and a step Quay is working on a small spinner. Click a step to open it. Steps 1 and 2 have nothing to open once done.
- Orders and companies import automatically. While it runs, the step says what it is doing, for example “Importing your orders from Shopify” or “Reading your companies from Shopify”, with a count of how far it has got. If part of it fails, the step shows Retry or Try again. Click it.
- Payment history is read automatically. Until your orders are imported, the step says “Starts after your orders are imported.” While it reads, it says “Still reading your order history. Suggestions appear here when it’s done.” If the reading stops short, the step says “Suggestions wait until your order history is read.” and This week says “Quay couldn’t finish reading your order history. Contact support to restart it.” If This week doesn’t show that, the step shows both. Click Contact support.
- Review suggestions. When suggestions are ready, click Review suggestions. The steps are in Review suggested credit limits. Applying a group there marks this step done. To skip it, click Mark as done.
- Add the company card to Shopify admin. Click Open a company page. One of your companies opens in Shopify admin. The steps are in Add Quay’s company card to Shopify admin. Then click Mark as done.
- Add credit details to buyer accounts. Click Open customer account editor. The steps are in Add Finance and payments to customer accounts. Then click Mark as done.
Once steps 1 and 2 are done, an X appears in the guide’s corner. It closes the guide for good, even if steps are left.
When you mark the last step done, the guide gives way to the line Setup complete.
On Shopify Plus
On a Plus store, while you are on a Quay plan or trial, the last step reads Add credit details to buyer accounts and checkout. It starts with “Take payment at checkout for the order that would go over the limit” and a Turn on button. Once that is on, the step shows an On badge and no button. See Shopify Plus: take payment for over-limit orders. Below it, under “Also add the payment terms notice to checkout”, are the steps for the checkout notice: see Add the Payment terms notice to checkout. The buyer account steps follow.
What happens next
When every step is done, the guide closes and the Dashboard shows the line "Setup complete" in its place. Next, check the policies your companies are on.
