New: buyers download their own statement

“Can you send us a statement?” is the most answerable question a buyer asks, and the slowest one to answer. You open the account, produce the document, write the email, attach the file. The buyer already has an account with you, and until now there was nothing in it to open.

Now there is. A buyer’s Finance and payments page can show the company’s open orders and a statement they download as a PDF themselves.

What the buyer sees. Under the payment and credit summaries there is a Statement card: today’s date, every open order with its due date and outstanding amount, an Overdue mark where one applies, and the total outstanding. View as PDF opens the same statement you would have produced on the Statements page, on your letterhead, with your payment details.

It is off until you turn it on. Open Settings, find Buyer portal, tick Show statements to buyers, and save. Nothing reaches a buyer before that. The box also waits until Quay has finished reading your order history, because a statement built from a half read history would show a balance that is simply wrong. If the box is not available yet, the help text under it says so.

The privacy rule has not moved. A statement is the company’s account, so every contact of that company sees the same open orders and the same total. Nobody sees a colleague’s personal order history, in Quay or anywhere else. A retail customer who opens the page still gets the short note that the page is for business accounts.

Quay still sends nothing. No email leaves Quay, before or after this release. The buyer pulls the document when they want it, and you keep sending statements yourself whenever you prefer to write the email.

What this changes for you is one line of work per request, repeated. What it does not change is any figure: the buyer’s statement and yours are the same document from the same orders.

The page this lands on is covered in a B2B customer portal on Shopify, what a statement has to show is in B2B account statements on Shopify, and the merchant side of the same document is in branded statements for any date or period.
