Fixed: unshipped Due on fulfillment orders are not overdue
Shopify’s “Due on fulfillment” terms mean the buyer pays once the order ships. Until today, Quay read such an order, while it was still waiting to ship, as due on the day it was placed. A day later it counted as overdue, and if the company’s policy acts on overdue accounts, Quay could put the company on pay-on-order or hold its next orders for an invoice that was not due yet.
An order on Due on fulfillment terms is now overdue only after it ships. Until then it still counts toward what the company owes and toward its credit limit, but it has no due date.
What you see. Statements and the outstanding orders report print “On fulfillment” where the due date goes. In the aging report and on the dashboard the order sits in Current. The CSV leaves its due date empty, so the column still sorts as dates. If you show buyers their Finance and payments page, the order counts in what they owe there, and if you also share statements with them, theirs says “On fulfillment” too.
When it gets a due date. Once every line has shipped, Shopify sets the due date to the day of the last shipment, and Quay uses it. A partial shipment does not start the clock.
One case differs from Shopify’s own screen. If an order had already shipped and you later switch its terms to Due on fulfillment, Shopify leaves it without a due date. Quay dates it at its last shipment, because that is when the terms say payment was due. If that shipment was long ago, the order can be overdue right away.
Payment history follows the same rule. An order waiting to ship is not counted as late, and once it ships, how late it was paid is measured from the shipment, not from the day it was placed. A company’s rating can move because of this.
What stays the same. Net and fixed-date terms work as before, and an order with no payment terms is still due when it is placed. There is nothing to switch on. An order already in Quay picks this up the next time it changes, and when Quay re-reads your order history.
How the aging report sorts invoices by how late they are is in accounts receivable for Shopify wholesale.
