Days overdue now follow your store's own calendar
Shopify shows every due date in the time zone you set in your store’s settings. Until now Quay counted days overdue in hours from the due time, so an invoice could turn overdue up to a day later than the date Shopify shows. A policy step also waited for one nightly check that ran at the same moment for every store: about 11:00 in Kuala Lumpur, the evening before in New York.
Days overdue follow your store’s calendar. An invoice is due on the date your Shopify admin shows. The next day it is 1 day overdue, the day after that 2, and a new day starts at midnight in your store’s time zone.
A policy step lands at your store’s midnight. When an invoice reaches the day your policy names, Quay puts the company on pay on order, or holds its new orders, shortly after midnight in your store’s time zone, usually within about 15 minutes.
Day 0 is the due date. The policy form says “Day 0 = same day as the invoice due date”, and a step set to day 0 now does exactly that: it acts on the due date itself. Quay shows the reason as “due today”, and from the next day as “1 day overdue”. An order without payment terms is due as soon as it is placed, so a day-0 step acts on it right away.
What you see. The aging report, “N days overdue” on the companies list and the company page, and statements can move by a day for an invoice that was due late in the day. A company whose payment record sat right at the edge between two ratings (on time and late, or late and very late) can move to the other one.
The policy form keeps your step while you type. Erasing a day no longer turns the step off: the box stays ticked, and the form asks you to enter a day before you save. On a blank form, ticking pay on order fills in day 1 and ticking the block fills in day 3. The form suggests day 0 only when the block is at day 1 or 2, and then says what day 0 does.
One thing to know. Quay counts by your store’s time zone, not your buyers’. If your buyers work in another time zone, a step lands by your store’s clock, which can be a day off from the due date they see in their own account.
What stays the same. Your saved policies keep their days, and there is nothing to switch on. Quay’s nightly check still runs as a safety net. If you change your store’s time zone in Shopify, Quay follows it from the next night.
